Aware Super are incredibly inept. We have been trying to roll-over our funds into a newly established SMSF for months now, and Aware have made zero progress and appear to be willing to do anything to prevent us from making this transition. Their customer service is infuriating, and the endless requests for information have no consistency. What was a swift and painless process for my wife and Christian super seems to be an insurmountable challenge for Aware Super. Absolutely appalling.

Aware Super took over my fund with WA Super a few years ago and service levels have dropped. Unlike previously when WA Super ran my fund, I had a lot of problems getting Aware supper to transfer a Division 293 tax settlement to the ATO this year, and had to waste a lot of time and money getting Aware to resolve my issue. The staff in the call centre and Perth office are confrontational and unhelpful.

I would not advise anyone to trust their saving nest egg with Aware super as you will struggle to get your own money back when you need it.

Since November 25 2021
I have notice I am losing money in a very questionable way to loose $20,000 K in 3 months really raises a red flag . This company needs to be investigated by the ombudsman red flags are there now with there name changing and what’s with the Trustee attached to there company name . As of today I’m rolling over my fund some where else . And please Aware Super do not give me a hard time or else I will lead a class action against you ….

Absolutely terrible experience with Aware. I’ve had to deal with 3 separate superannuation companies recently, other two paid out in 3 weeks, 3 months later I’m still being stuffed around Aware. This money belongs to me, there was a binding nomination in place and they’re still dragging their feet dicking me around. Worst ever

Aware Super makes it extremely difficult to access your super. They will tell you your request is being processed and that the requested amount will be in your account in 5 days. After no communication and no money, you call back only to find out that there has been some error and that it will take another 5 days with no guarantee that the money will be transferred. After 5 weeks, I am still yet to receive my money.

Fast at setting up a new account and taking your money, charging fees. Hopeless if you want to speak with someone or roll over funds. No escalation path or focus on customer service or customer satisfaction. Shutting their systems down for 2 weeks for improvements, only to be worse then before. Avoid this fund they just don’t care.

Aware Super might appear a good fund with all the hype and fluff they show, but the real nightmare starts when you try to contact customer support or try and make a withdrawal of YOUR money when you are entitled to it.
Like so many other unhappy customers, I experienced exceptionally long wait times on the phone (if you could get through at all). Only then to be lied to (or told what you want to hear to get you off the phone) by the service representative. Contacting them via email is just as painful, with emails being flat out ignored and if you are fortunate enough to get a reply, its either lies again or just a useless copy and paste answer that does not address your issue.
I have now been waiting 7 weeks to withdraw some of MY super that I am entitled to. 7 weeks ago I submitted all the required paperwork and claim forms, I even followed up with a phone call to ensure all of the information was received and they didnt need anything else, to which they confirmed all was good and they would process the withdrawal within the next week (first lie) – never happened.
Then they had a 2 week shutdown whilst they “upgraded” their systems – this meant they did nothing during that time. Soon as they were online again I rang again, was told again that I would have my money within the week (second lie) – never happened.
Over the following 3 weeks the same lies were told to me again and again via phone and email, and here is sit now 7 weeks on and still dont have a cent of MY money.
Needless to say that I have lodged a complaint via AFCA, and have to wait the 4 weeks that AFCA give Aware to respond to my complaint.
It just boggles my mind that after having all the paperwork for 7 weeks they cant actually process that paperwork and do the job that they take their overly priced premiums for.

We submitted a rollover request to our SMSF on the 25th May 2023 via the ATO, and we are still waiting on the transfer to be completed. The transfer is meant to take a few days to process, clearly it has taken longer than this. We didn’t make contact until about three weeks after the 25th May. We spoke with someone who said they have actioned this for urgency. They are now asking for a bank statement (which was provided via the ATO platform). It takes an average of 51 minutes to wait on hold to speak with someone. I’m on hold now as i write this (currently 12 minutes and counting). The automated message states every time that “we are experiencing a large volume of calls”, i.e. we only hire two people to answer calls as we don’t mind you waiting as it’s your time that’s being wasted, we employ less people so we have greater profits, and we also hope that you will hang up so we don’t have to deal with you….a win-win for us and us.
So they are either completely incompetent or they have an ulterior motive, to ensure they keep our money as long as possible and retain further fees and make more money from investing our money. Or they may hold off until June 30 so a tax return is required, thus having our money for longer before releasing.
I would like to add that after 48 minutes of waiting, the on hold music stopped, 5 seconds of silence and the call was cancelled. I now remember this happening once before and how frustrated I am at this organisation.

Awful customer service. Don’t answer phones. Pay for every bit of advice. More interested in promoting their profile on TV ads and changing their name than helping once you are in. I really don’t know why it is a highly rated fund.

Recently withdrew funds to purchase a painting. Aware ignored my request to take funds from my cash portfolio and took most of it from my higher interest earning portfolio, even though there was more than enough in my cash portfolio. When I called them, they put me through to very low level staff member who did not understand my request that they transfer funds from cash portfolio to higher interest earning portfolio to replace funds withdrawn in error. Instead they just gave me another withdrawal with no authorisation from me and no record in my activities record. Attempts to get this sorted out have met a blank wall with no response. I will be lodging a formal complaint with AFCA (financial services ombudsman) tomorrow to try to get them to fix the problems they have created

I am currently overseas, tried to make a withdrawal about 3 weeks ago, only to get a banner on the web page saying “Online withdrawal requests can’t currently be actioned. Please contact us”. I also have tried to change my address but can’t with a message saying, Sorry, we have hit a technical issue, please try again later or as you would of guessed please contact us. So I contact them, ( costing me international calls every time I call ), 4 times so far. Only to be told because I’m overseas I have limited access to my account. On another call I was told someone would contact me that day. NEVER HAPPENED. 2 days later I call again, was told it would take 2 – 3 days for a phone call, was told there and then that my case would be escalated and I would receive a phone call that day, waited at around all day and NO PHONE CALL. Have sent 3 emails with no replies. They also wanted me to post a form. Where I am, it takes 30 days to get to Australia. Biggest joke of a company out there. Have mad a complaint to AFCA.
As everyone else says it’s our money.

Very poor fund performance. The systems are very dated so everything was a manual process in the backend which would mean everything happens slowly. The staff were not very friendly when i called. I have moved to aussie super and can see a big difference.

I’m writing an update about Aware Super. I have to give credit when credit is due. As of today 17/09/20, after aware had a maintenance day on their website and app, I am now able to make changes to my account information and lump sum withdrawals. Thank you for Aware for finally fixing these issues.

Absolute disgrace, absolutely disgusting. Made an error and attempted to fix by email three times – no replies. Suddenly in the middle of a meeting I got another email, “what’s your phone number”, like that’s not on the contact information(!) and replied accordingly, and also stated in response, one of the generic replies they offer “You can call me now”. I told him my number again and awaited his call. As I was in a meeting I have witnesses. Nothing. No call. Rang the following week to find out what was going on with my error and funds required, nothing had been done at all. Now held up another week. Mind you, that guy has stated he DID RING ME and he never ever did. An out and out liar. I spoke to a lovely girl on Monday who said it was being fixed “as of now” but nothing when I went in to the site the next day, rang again, got an Indian guy I could not understand going on about unit prices, who gives a you know what, when I just wanted my $$$. He says he sees the man last week did ring me, I said if that was the case why didn’t he do what the girl did yesterday to fix things? No reply to that. They are abominable. I could hardly understand this Indian man and we were practically screaming at each other throughout the call. I was livid. I am now considering pulling all my super, it wouldn’t mean much to them if I did, you really don’t count as a single entity in there.
