This fund charges many fees for low accounts over 1000. They are not transparent about this when joining as a young person.

I have be with Student Super then switched over to professional super for 3 years now. In the beginning, the rate is reasonable as it does not charge a huge amount of admin fee as i didnt earn a consistent income as a student. The investment returns were reasonable at first. But since 2022, my net investment has been in shortfall. I even loat nearly 500 dollars in a quater (june to aug 2022 period). The admin fee is now nearly 7.50 dollars per month. Which definitely put a dent on my super. I dont know if I would lose my hard earn money to all these high fee and failed investment by Professional Super at this rate. Not recommended.

It’s good for high school working a part time job because of no fees, but as soon as you get a real job the nearly 1% admin fee is ridiculous

They aren’t upfront with what they invest in. Super is only good until you’re super contains above $1000, then you should seek another superfund due to the large fees and amounts of super they take.

Student Super are Switching over to a new fund. They are resetting the rules for fund so if your fund was inactive for 16 months before the switch this overrides the ATO guidelines which state that if your super is inactive it will be transferred over so that super fees don’t erode however with the switchover student Super ensure that they bypass this rule

I had a really frustrating experience with this super fund, and I feel compelled to share it. First off, their customer service is awful. I called and instead, I got a voicemail asking me to leave a message. Given that they manage people’s retirement savings, it feels unprofessional and sketchy to not pick up the phone right away or at least to leave it rin until someone picks up.

They market themselves as “Student Super,” targeting young people like myself, but when I checked my account, I realised they put me into a “balanced” fund — a conservative option meant for older people, not students.

When I confronted them about this, their response was “we don’t choose for you.” But that’s exactly what they did — they chose to put me in the wrong fund without consulting me first, despite claiming to cater to students.

On top of that, when I asked about the performance of my investment compared to others, they couldn’t provide any clear answers and the performance of the fund is a lot lower than their competitors. It made me feel like my money was being mishandled and that they are waiting for the balance to get large enough to start charging high fees. I don’t trust them with my hard-earned savings, and I’ll definitely be moving my money out of this fund.

If you’re thinking about using them, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. They don’t seem to care about your financial future, only their own.
