We decided to invest in a specific property so set up a SMSF to do this. My wife posted her forms to Unisuper and they received them 2 business days later than CBus got mine but Unisuper still managed to do the actual rollover within 3 business days of receipt of the forms and it was quick, easy and their call centre answered our questions first time. CBus have been a complete nightmare to deal with, won’t respond to written requests for an update, can’t get any answer from the call centre, just a fib off or worse still you ring once and are told it has been passed along to be handled by their rollover team then you ring back and they tell you they haven’t received the required paperwork even though you have an email (automated) acknowledging receipt of the paperwork. They then tell you the paperwork isn’t certified properly as they clearly don’t understand the certification requirements (my wife is a retired legal academic and checked it was all compliant before sending) and then finally they acknowledge that it is right and accept it as is. They delayed so long we are now in default under our purchase contract and have to pay interest on the purchase amount to the vendor and just to add insult to injury, they kept loosing money every day during the 27 days it took them to do the rollover! We even rang and lodged a formal complaint and were told they would respond within 3 business days, but 6 days later, still no response. All they have done is ensure i would never roll back to them if we decide we don’t like being a SMSF, Unisuper who outperformed CBus in terms of returns anyway would now be my fund if choice

My experience with having to deal with this superannuation fund (after suffering the death of my elder son) can be described as well beyond appalling; with justified, highly serious concerns over what gave reason to point towards a real need for more than possible corrupt tactics being investigated.
I have a highly damning phone and email trail over a period of several months.
To put a grieving mother through this added, heinous level of stress at such a time, is beyond anyone’s belief.
The Case Manager (a long serving and experience employee) refused to answer phone calls, return voice messages; nor provide answers to serious questions.
was Next of Kin and was being pressured to send my ID and sign off on approx. one fifth of the final approved Death Benefit Payment. The other claimant (who my groundwork allowed to be contacted) received his full share before I was even provided with the final statement. They continued to refuse to send this through, until forced to by the Complaints’ Department.
The Australian Federal Government can’t continue to allow these powerful entities, who have the control of billions of taxpayers’ precious finances, to operate within such lacking in transparency and never taken to task. Even the AFCA has been described as needing a Commission of investigation.

absolutely Horrible, once my issue is sorted, will be removing super and going elsewhere. I Have applied for early release as I need my teeth fixed asap. The Government approved everything quickly. Cbus have lost paperwork 3 times, when i ask to speak with the complaints department, they tell me i can complain to them about them, because they don’t have anywhere to complain. so, employees can treat you however they wish with no accountability. In the meantime, I cannot get the help I need because of Cbus Incompetence.

Don’t join with Cbus, you can’t access your money when you desperately need it. All paperwork filled out and oh it’s with the trustee. Seems to be a common issue with CBUS that you get oh it’s with the trustee (with no timeframe).
Not happy at all.
No car now due to CBUS!!!!! And been with CBUS since 1989 so disappointed

If I could give CBus a zero I would. I would not recommend CBus to my worst enemy. They delay everything. You can never speak to a claims manager. They don’t even put names on their letters, so you can’t track down or speak or email directly anyone to do with your claim. If you call them, you are on hold for an hour or more at a time, and then only get through to a call centre who can’t give you any information.

I attempted to change income stream payment amounts, assured in April that it was completed, now in May, still not updated, numerous phone calls, always say it has been escalated to team leader, etc.
Confusing, operator states they do not know what is going on, blamed a system problem, raised with IT dept., then just make the statement they have escalated the issue.
Just spent another two hours on phone and website, not resolved.
They also do not respond, you always have to contact them.

Have to submit documents 3 to 4 times. Continual stalling tactics to pay my money. They lie telling you it’s being processed only to get continual responses asking for repeat info and yet another week to wait…nearly 4 weeks now. Complained and told 45 days to respond. What a joke

Do you homework and stay as far away as possible.
Service and delays are atrocious for such a big organisation and never the right outcome.
Now trying to move my Super to another organisation is now even another drama when at the end of the day its my money.
Unfortunately many are going to learn the hard way with CBUS.

I’ve requested a partial withdrawal, form posted 4 days ago. Now I’m told I need photographic evidence of my driver’s licence and medicare card to do that. It’s not my first partial withdrawal, the last one took 10 working days. I am closing my account tomorrow and won’t look back. Take a wide berth.

Satisfied with the performance of an income stream so far (2023 being the 4th year). Obviously the COVID experiment took the shine off the previously healthy yearly increases, can’t blame Cbus for that though.
** Knocked off one star because for decades they were deducting life insurance premiums, which I never would have knowingly signed for as I’ve never had any dependents (my guess is the option was surreptitiously slipped into my application all those years ago)
