Colonial First State Super is the super arm of an Australian financial services company which was first established in 1873 as the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society. Their main Super product is – FirstChoice Wholesale Personal Super.
As of March 31st 2026 they had approximately 611,570 members and $108.42 billion in assets under management across all their super and pension products.

Unlike other funds members are usually not placed in a default MySuper option but often have bespoke portfolios constructed by financial advisers or themselves.

I feel like my investments are going backwards at a rate far faster than any other fund…in fact other funds are growing and my ~$700K is now worth less than $580K and they are blaming COVID instead of thier own poor fund management
Colonial were ok about 3years ago then decided to put me in a new fund which has continually dropped by 10% negative returns compared to other funds . Now they informed me that i will be put in another new super fund which has no performance data.
its returns are awful compared to other funds i have stayed loyal hoping you could return a suitable return . i am now changing funds with in weeks, llook at at yor investors not your profit.

One of the better funds out there…the wholesale menu offers around 190 different investment options, this means i have more options to earn positive performance returns. I can transact easily if I want to make a change to an investment. I’ve always had a good response via the general help line. I also like the mobile app to view my balance and contributions to super and track my performance. This fund is much cheaper than my previous fund IOOF who were about 4 times the cost.
Just can’t get happy with this fund. Very poor communication and transparency and ridiculously high fees for a consistently year on year below average performance. Certainly not improved in transparency and service since they separated from Commonwealth Bank. Worse if anything. Jury out on whether performance has improved but not looking likely. Too big, too smug I suspect.
My investment is getting less and less instead of growing more and more.

The results are great, my super balance has increased so much in the last year. I had an issue logging in to my account and the girl was so helpful on the phone. Really happy that I made the move to CFS from my old super fund.
