First Super was founded in 2008 when Furniture Industry Retirement Superannuation Trust, the Pulp & Paper Workers’ Superannuation Fund and the Timber Industry Super Scheme merged.
As of September 30th 2024 they had approximately 77,180 members and $4.61 billion in assets under management.

Insurance

This fund offers death and TPD insurance cover to their members. Whilst members are offered Basic Death and Basic Total and permanent Disablement Cover, they can apply for additional insurance cover, which can include Lump Sum Death Cover, Lump Sum Death and TPD cover and Income Protection cover.

Additional cover for Voluntary Insurance Cover is available with the following limits:
Death – no maximum
TPD – $5 million.
Income protection – up to $25,000 per month.
Insurance is provided by MetLife Insurance Limited.

Insurance Rating

Insurance is available through First Super. However, it is not rated by Omnilife.

Solid returns and low fees. Customer Service has been very good as well.
Only criticism is that is that the platform could be a better digital experience. For example it would be great if you could change your investment allocation online rather than having to print out forms, fill them in and then send them off

fairly good super fees are a bit steep though

Absolutely crap service, canceled insurance over a year ago they still steal $50+/m out of account. App is poor can’t do anything with it other than see how much they take from you. Submitted transfer to Australian Super(who are really good) 1 yr ago and they lag the processing time hold your $ and take fee’s then didn’t transfer the entire amount and are as above stealing $ out it. Stay away from First Super.
