FAQ's

QSuper has underperformed vs the benchmark across many of it’s main investment options. Fees are lower than the median of other options of the same risk profile on Review My Super. Based on the past performance it’s hard to say it’s been a good super fund.
However, past performance isn’t a reliable indicator of future performance and there are many factors which determine whether a super fund is good or bad and it can differ depending on personal requirements. It’s best to seek advice from a qualified adviser in order to work out which is the best super fund for you.

No, it’s a public sector super fund.

When QSuper merged with SunSuper I feel QSuper members were completely misled. I hope the ombudsman’s office is investigating. If we are one find now why am I still in a QSuper balanced fund which has performed so poorly. All the pre-merge messaging was we were going to be one fund now but obviously that was misleading. BALANCED : ART 10% vs QSuper 4%. When I enquired about where all the losses have occurred in 23, I was initially given the long term investment message. I knew they had lost money but when I asked specifically which investments had returned negative results I was fobbed off. No transparency at all. At the members online seminar to calm disappointed QSuper members we were not given any meaningful explanation either I feel. Just lots of warm and fussy.

Previously it was a safe fund with regular low growth but has this year it has performed very badly. No growth, in fact negative growth.

Watch how quickly they draw the shutters when you question their transparency and request information. Profits first, members interests last….

Q_Super Insurance customer service needs improvement, they do not answer phone calls, will not answer emails, never follow up after consultants informing you they will. Income protection service has dysfunctional staff. Consultants who answer pleasant, but to no avail, you are kept on a merry ground. They are not approachable as ignore all attempts of contact, Service Manager is always uncontactable.

Have not received any super payments into my Qsuper account since the merger in Dec 2022. $$$thousand missing. Qsuper state it’s the work accountant problem and can not do anything while work say Qsuper are bouncing back the payments. I have contacted Qsuper several times but still going in circles for 3 months.

Since merger with Sunsuper to form ART QSuper has been absorbed for commerccial growth objective. It is essentially finished.
Fees are rising performance sliding, and although the say ART , QSuper members are locked out of ART products unless you transfer funds which if you do , there would many more better industry options than ART or QSuper.

Performance returns are well below industry average for the Balanced Option and have been for a number of years. May be due to Qsuper moving to a defensive position about 8 years ago.. Check other funds before investing

I find it hard to get someone who’s has a good knowledge of the QSuper product. Plus since Covid the service has gone down hill most of the staff are working from home and have to place you on hold for long periods of time.

Income Protection insurance is one of those fake insurances, especially the extra unitised cover that I paid for. 30 day claims are false. 3 months later and still no income protection payments made. Super going backwards.

Leaving this fund…really poor performance and customer service really bad.It seems anyone I spoke with was inexperienced and could not explain fees or returns. A promise of a call back didn’t happen.A terrible return last year and also so far negative this year when my partner is with Australian Trust which is meant to be the same fund and his returns twice as good as mine.

I always found call staff in Q Super helpful but that’s no where near as important to me as fund performance.
And that’s where the Q Super Fund has crashed..
Their investment team’s performance is woeful- delivering ongoing poor returns. This is coupled with a now too-high fee structure.
I left them some time ago for a better industry fund, and am very glad I did.

Changed to QSuper 2 years ago when they were boasting about how good they would be after the merge with Sunsuper – well that was a mistake – absolutely dropped the ball – no merger – just acquisition – poor performance with next to no gain.
The fund I left is equivalent to $50k higher after 2 years than QSuper. ANZ performed better by ~4% ($30k).
Time to look for a better Super Fund – won’t be hard.

I invested in their Q Super lifetime pension product a year ago. Now I’m stuck with a poor performing fund and diminishing pension payments as compared to inflation. The performance isn’t even close to other funds. No option to switch. Why can’t the Lifetime Pension Pool be invested in ART Balanced Fund? Not happy.

QSuper used to be Great and I have been a Long Term Member since 1989
But since being taken over by Australian Retirement Trust (ART) QSuper are absolutely Useless !
QSuper completely neglect their Self Invest option now and look to be actively trying to shut it down and so continually winding down what Assets you can hold ASX300 => ASX100 for example !
And they completely Fail to inform Members of Any such changes.
If you want more control over your Super without going completely to an SMF then QSuper has removed itself from the equation !!!
On top of that their response times are simply ludicrous !
3 days to answer an email and 45 days to respond to any sort of complaint !
I’d still go with an Industry Fund but there are now much better options than QSuper/ART !
