Founded in 1987, Sunsuper merged with QSuper in 2022 forming Australian Retirement Trust.
As of September 30 2023 the combined entity had had approximately 2.41 million members and $257.28 billion in assets under management across their super and pension products.

Sunsuper Insurance

Sunsuper (now Australian Retirement Trust) offers death, TPD and income protection insurance cover to their members.
Whilst most members are offered default Death and Total and permanent Disablement Cover, they can also apply for Income Protection Cover.

Additional cover is available with the following limits:
Death – No maximum
TPD – $3 million.
Income protection – up to 85% of your income with a maximum of $30,000 per month.
Insurance is provided by Australian Retirement Trust.

Is Sunsuper a Good Super Fund?

Sunsuper’s (now Australian Retirement Trust) Growth, Balanced and Conservative investment options have all outperformed the median over 1, 3 and 5 years. Although Fees are slightly above the median options for these risk profiles. Based on this evidence it would be reasonable to say it’s a good super fund. However, there are many factors which determine whether a super fund is good or bad and it can differ depending on personal requirements.
